What is this blog about?
The main focus of this blog will be on tips and techniques to come up with ideas, improve upon old ideas, and how to get these ideas out of your head and into other peoples’ heads.
This blog will cover: ideas, brainstorming, visual thinking, storytelling, mind maps, creativity, presentation, information graphics, visual language, metaphors, visual communication, conceptual comics, and related news and events. I will also add my own views/opinions/observations/experiences to help make the material easy to understand.
I have done a lot of research and experimentation with ideas and I hope this blog will help others see new ways to work with ideas. So look for new posts roughly twice a week, or as inspiration strikes.
Who writes this blog?
Hi! My name is Will Konijn. I am the Creative Director for MappingIdeas.com.
I specialize in making complex ideas simple to understand without “dumbing down” the material.
I started this path as a Training Coordinator at Apple’s Developer University, learning how to setup and conduct training classes on the latest software developments.
Later at BMC Software, I honed my training skills helping Fortune 500 companies understand the complexities of Oracle and Microsoft databases.
In these classes I would use anything to help make an idea easy to understand - screen captures, mind maps, shiny infographics, stories/case studies, or even doodles with stick figures.
Throughout my career, I have seen the benefits of taking a basic idea, improving it or using it as a stepping stone to another idea, then being able to effectively communicate that idea to others so they truly understand it.
